Avanee Gosavi of Pune successfully passed the Level 3 Bronze badge Officiating exams conducted by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in Tokyo Japan

 

Avanee will be the third Bronze Badge official from Maharashtra

 

This exam which is the last and final exam in Officiating which is held once a year. Numerous officials from all around the world apply for this exam, however the Selections of candidates to attend this exam is based on-court performances, as well as evaluations received from various tournament referees.

 

Gosavi who passed her White badge Chair umpiring exam in November 2016 in Kuwait, Has numerous hours on court as a Chair Umpire and also as a Line umpire in different events across the world ,

 

I am extremely grateful to my family, my mentors Mrs. Sheetal Iyer and Mr. Nitin Kannamwar who are also Gold Badge Referees as well as MSLTA for supporting me through this journey of officiating, said Gosavi after the results.

 

Avanee will be the 7th Bronze Badge Tennis official in India and the third Bronze Badge official from Maharashtra after Sreeram Gokhale and Ashay Shekatkar . Avanee is the the lone female Bronze badge Chair Umpire in India, with Ms Payal Jain being the former and the first. There are about 10 female Bronze Chair Umpires in Asia in total.

 

Currently India boasts of 2 gold badge referees , 2 silver badge referees ,7 bronze badge chair umpires , 11 white badge referees, 19 white badge chair officials , 1 silver badge chief of Officials and 2 white badge chief of officials ,2 white Badge Chief of Officials

 

Maharashtra has the Highest number of 17 Tennis officials in India with 2 Gold badge referees , 3 Bronze Badge Chair Officials , 6 White Badge Referees, 6 white Badge Officials , 1 white Badge Chief of Officials.
